Val joins us as a coach of one of the 16s teams this season. From nearby Simi Valley, Val was a product of Royal High School. In her time donning green and gold, she was a four year letter winner capped by her senior year in which she was both a First Team All-Marmonte League and team MVP Selection. Val also played for Point West under Kristine Connolly, where her team finished 5th at the Junior Olympics.
Recognized for her talent, Kepler was awarded a scholarship to play at Cal State Northridge where she was a 4 year starter and team captain. Proving herself in the classroom and on the court, Kepler was a 3 year Big West All-Academic team selection in addition to being named to the Honorable Mention All-Big West Team in 2007. In what was arguably her best season, she finished ranked fifth in the Big West in blocking at 1.27 per game and ranked eighth in hitting percentage. She also left her mark on the Matador Record books as she finished second in block assists for a single season, and seventh in blocks for a single season (both 2007) and third in block assists and fifth in blocks for a career.
Taking her talent from playing the game to teaching and managing the game, Kepler was the assistant coach under Kristine Connolly at The Masters College and coached club volleyball at Santa Monica Beach Club last year.
Of Val Coach Connolly says, "Val is a great addition to our program. She is a high level athlete and knows the game well. She will fit in seamlessly with our club - we are lucky to have her."
